Mark Haven (1941-2021) combined a career of teaching, exhibitions and editorial photography over more than half a century. In the US he did assignment work for many publications, including The New York Times Magazine, Newsweek, New York Magazine and Harper’s. His work appeared in DoubleTake and Nest Magazine. In Europe he published work in Zoom International (Italy), Zeit Magazin (Germany); Das Magazin (Switzerland) and Moda (Italy). His documentary projects include a beach resort for nuns, “St. Mary’s by-the-Sea”; “Harper Park”, a mobile home community; and “The Commute”, a document of an American Highway. His work is in numerous private collections, including the New York Public Library and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. He was a Professor Emeritus at the Rochester Institute of Technology and taught photography workshops in New York City at the International Center of Photography (ICP), Italy, Dubrovnik, Croatia and Havana, Cuba. He was also a MacDowell Colony Fellow. He lived and worked in New York City.
